Inches & Kilometers is a collection of photographs and drawings initialized by image-based user interfacing via same-sex social networking applications (‘hook up apps’). This body of work is built up of images exchanged by the artist, as an avatar, and other members in sexual brevity. In an effort to make physical these encounters, the vernacular photographs of such interfacing are romanced by the artist’s handiwork— sensual, gestural, silver-inked blind contour drawings. A tracing of anatomy by hand employed as a reminder of (or lust letter to) the physical form. An attempt to pierce the slick glass barrier between two sets of skin. An adulation to form, to sensual energy made public by the body of the artist, past the containment of dedicated mobile applications.

As an invitation, Inches & Kilometers, (as units of measure between two ‘men’ in cyberspace,) is a performance of digital and physical intimacies. These exchanges of image are records of a community with a newfound ease of connection, gratification and an unwelcomely familiar contained anonymity.
